In 2020, we are celebrating our 30th anniversary of full time broadcasting.

We serve the residents of City of Whittlesea, Nillumbik Shire and northern sections of Banyule City Council. Our studios are currently based in Mill Park.

Established in 1987 by the then Shire of Diamond Valley and after a few test broadcasts from our original home in Yarrambat, we received our official full time licence in Dec 1990.

One key area that we are especially proud of is our important role in the community as a designated emergency broadcaster for the area, in particular the Plenty Gorge parkland area which is noted as high bushfire prone location due to its dense bushland and proximity to the residential population.

In times of emergency (not just in fire season), we will suspend regular programming to provide incident updates and keep our community informed and safe by relaying information received from the State Control Centre and other authorised emergency management agencies.

We have a diverse range of music options available in our programs – from pop, rock, folk, retro classics, easy listening, jazz and more!  Our volunteer presenters provide an insight into their personal music libraries with their programs each week.

We also reach out to local organisations to seek information about their activities and events to promote on air.  If you are a Community Group, send your details to us to tell our listeners about you!

We also have dedicated CALD programs to reach multicultural communities in our service area.  We cover local sport and seek to embed ourselves within the fabric of our community by conducting outside broadcasts.

Importantly, we actively support and encourage promoting local, independent music artists to share their material with us and offer regular interview opportunities and can provide details on how to get your music heard nationally across the over 400 community radio stations in Australia through the Australian Music Radio Airplay Program.

In short, WE ARE PASSIONATELY LOCAL.

We rely on the philanthropic generosity of people and groups in our community who sign up as members, financial donors and local businesses as sponsorship.
