Indie – Dan Vogl

Indie – Dan Vogl

Hello… I spoke to Suzie yesterday at the Hurstbridge Wattle festival. I would love for PVFM to support my latest release ‘Breathe You In’ and the future releases of my original music. Bio: Dan Vogl is a high vibe, indie rock n’ roll artist, from Melbourne, Australia. At age 10, Dan picked up a broken acoustic guitar from the side of the road in a hard rubbish collection. He repaired it with duct tape and went on to teach himself how to play guitar, sing and write songs.   In 2017 Dan released his debut single ‘If I Die’ after being awarded a songwriter’s scholarship at The Australian College of the Arts. It received airtime on Triple J, a video feature from Speaker TV and was used in the TV series ’600 Bottles of Wine” on Network 10 and Netflix. In 2018 Dan participated in a music mentoring program through ‘The Push’ and received mentoring from Darren Middleton. (Powderfinger)   In 2019 Dan worked with producer Joel Quartermain, (Eskimo Joe) to record his debut EP ‘Gifted In Gold.’ This saw him receive further airtime on Triple J, chart in the Top 10 on the ‘Amrap’ Regional Charts, as well as receiving press attention from Tone Deaf, Music Feeds, Beat and Forté. Later that year Dan travelled to North America and performed countless shows in Canada.   In 2020 Dan participated in the Music Victoria Artist Consultancy program, where he gained mentoring from prolific music manager, Michael Parisi. (Vera Blue, Xavier Rudd) In 2021 Dan’s follow up single ‘Bland Francisco’ saw a change of direction sonically, working with producer Alex Markwell. (Mark Ronson, Portugal the Man and The Delta Riggs) This was rewarded with a plethora of community radio play and interviews, alongside the addition to MTV Upload programming.   In 2022 Dan released ‘Let Down.’ Again, working with Markwell, he pursued an indie rock ’n roll sound with a political sentiment. The track received 4/5 stars across the board from triple j presenters. In mid 2023, Dan co-wrote ‘Sky Falls Down’ with producer Alex Markwell, the brit-pop leaning arrangement, gaining more support from community radio and online press. The end of 2023 brought ‘Guts and Courage’ co-written and produced by JT MCrae (Gretta Ray, Allday, D’Arcy Spiller) with additional production and mixing from Alex Markwell. The track saw some traction on social media and even received 4-star reviews from Triple J’s Tommy Faith and Claire Mooney.   Dan has shown versatility in his live performances, supporting the likes of indie rockers British India, folk singer/songwriter Bob Evans and has toured with new wavers, Pseudo Echo. Dan has performed at festivals like The Hills Are Alive and Eltham Street Festival.  He has performed shows at iconic Melbourne venues like Northcote Social Club, The Gasometer, and The Workers Club.

Indie – Bernadette Novembre

Indie – Bernadette Novembre

Born and bred in Melbourne, Bernadette had an early start in music and began singing professionally at the age of only six. Touring with international artists from six to 12 years old, Bernadette is heavily influenced by French and Italian artists of the 1960's such as Françoise Hardy, Dalida and Mina. In 2017 Bernadette began to entrench herself in the Melbourne music scene and started singing again and songwriting. This resulted in the release of a critically acclaimed Soul EP ‘Rebounding’ which was co-written and produced by Ryan Ritchie (True Live, The Raah Project). Radio stations across the country and internationally played Bernadette’s songs which translated into a loyal following around the world and her participation in numerous gigs and festivals. Almost four years ago, Bernadette met the creative genius Joshua Moriarty (Telenova, Miami Horror, All The Colours) who agreed to co-write and produce Bernadette’s debut Album. Bernadette always knew that she wanted to make an Indie Rock album, having been inspired by her favourite 1960’s artists The Beatles, George Harrison, The Doors, The Kinks, The Zombies, The Animals, Janis Joplin, The Mamas and The Papas, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, Electric Light Orchestra, The Beach Boys, Dusty Springfield and her modern-day idols the Arctic Monkeys, Tempesst, Beach House, Lana del Rey, Florence and The Machine, The Vaccines, Babyshambles, Franz Ferdinand, Oasis, PJ Harvey, Queens of The Stone Age, Chrissie Hynde and Alexandra Savior. A surrealist at heart, Bernadette’s new music has been described as ‘Avant-Indie Alt Rock on the dreamscape’ due to the dreamlike quality of her lyrics and melodies. With the new Album, Bernadette also aspires to create surreal visual vignettes in the form of three music videos to metaphorically paint the picture of the songs’ transcendent meanings. Her debut Album is expected to be released in 2025. Bernadette has achieved so much in the eight years she has been back in the music scene. Highlights of Bernadette’s career thus far include playing support to members of The Rolling Stones and being chosen to headline Festivals such as the St Kilda Festival and the Queenscliff Music Festival. One of Bernadette’s songs made it to the Top 30 of the Australian Songwriters Association Songwriting Contest in 2020. A solo artist, Bernadette plays live with a backing band of loyal musicians – Josh Boult on Keys and Rhythm Guitar, Adyn Young on Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals, Ross Davidson on Bass and Luke Andresen on Drums. On 29 July 2024 Bernadette will be releasing the first single off her debut Album called Another View from Dystopia along with a music video.
